Match report: AFC Wimbledon 0 Torquay United 2

First-half goals by Krystian Pearce and Jayden Stockley gave new Torquay United manager Chris Hargreaves a dream start.

Defender Pearce volleyed into the roof of the net, after Wimbledon goalie Ross Worner had made a brilliant save from Stockley in the 28th minute.

Then loanee Stockley, Hargreaves' first signing, headed home Anthony O'Connor's 43rd minute cross after a delightful build-up.

The Gulls, playing with confidence and determination, then defended their lead under growing pressure in the second half.

The highlight of the resistance was a goal-saving block by Aaron Downes from George Francomb's fierce 15-yard shot in the 79th minute.
